The faggotsubway in revolution rhinestone ritual

New York: El Teatro Terraza, [1981]. Offset. 8 ½ x 11 in. Bumping and small tears to right edge; very good. Item #10293

Flyer for a play by the hairdresser, photographer, and performer Eric Gabriel, held adjacent to the CHARAS Community Center.

The performance was described thus by artist and educator Tony Whitfield in issue no.5 of the performing arts journal, Live: “In Faggotsubway, written by Eric Gabriel, the subject again is power, the power that lovers give to one another and how it shifts in balance at different times. Comprised of two poetic monologues, the work is extremely self-conscious in its use of a quasisexual rhythmic structure and finally breaks under the weight of romantic metaphor.”

Record of a largely unrecorded queer performance in the early ‘80s East Village.

Price: $100.00
