The Feminist Press was founded in 1970 and the publisher’s first books were released in 1971. The Press moved from Baltimore to Old Westbury in 1971 when founder Florence Howe accepted a professorship at SUNY-Westbury. In 1985, the Press relocated to the CUNY Graduate Center campus.
This early catalog advertises titles such as Nonsexist Curricular Materials for Elementary Schools; Witches, Midwives, and Nurses: A History of Women Healers; The Revolt of Mother and Other Stories, and many more.
