Dykes Opposed to Nuclear Technology

New York: Dykes Opposed to Nuclear Technology [D.O.N.T], [1979]. Offset. [4] pp. 8 1/2 x 11in. Crease from folding horizontally, slight bumping to edge; else near fine. Item #10355

Four page pamphlet from the lesbian anti-nuclear organization Dykes Opposed to Nuclear Technology [D.O.N.T]. Printed early in the group’s existence, this pamphlet includes information about the group’s participation in mass demonstrations, civil disobedience, and brief articles explicating anti-nuclear politics. Of particular note is an interview with Women of All Red Nations.

The pamphlet is an example of lesbians joining a mass movement while emphasizing their particular perspective as lesbians. Shatzi Weisberger, a co-founded of DONT, would go on to have a long and rich life on the American left; in her early-90s she was a popular and frequent presence at anti-Zionist protests, often displaying a sign reading “92 year old Jewish dyke for a Free Palestine.”
