The second ever appearance in print of one of Lorde’s most influential essays. Pamphlet of a paper Lorde delivered at The Fourth Berkshire Conference on the History of Women in 1978. First published in a private edition of 250 copies for distribution at the conference on Feminist Perspectives on Pornography in San Francisco in November 1978.
This printing predates the essay’s wider distribution in a 1981 hardbound edition from Kore Press, Out & Out’s 1984 second printing, and its inclusion in Lorde’s groundbreaking non-fiction anthology Sister Outsider.
