The first feminist vegetarian cookbook self-published by the Bloodroot Collective in 1980, signed and inscribed by all four members of the collective.
Founded in 1977, Bloodroot is a feminist vegetarian restaurant and bookstore in Bridgeport, Connecticut that continues to serve vegan and vegetarian meals and sell feminist titles. An important lesbian hangout and center of feminist organizing in Connecticut, the restaurant was the subject of a 2019 documentary, Bloodroot. The Political Palate was published under the collective’s own imprint after a publisher expressed interest in the book, but on the condition that the title be changed.
Signed and inscribed on front flypaper by the authors: Betsey Beaven, Noel Furie [née Giordano], Selma Miriam, and Pat Shea.
