The prison writings of Sócrates A. Campos Lemus, an important leader in the 1968 Mexican student movement.
Campos Lemus was an economics student at the Instituto Politécnico Nacional when the 1968 Student Movement began. When the Consejo Nacional de Huelga (CNH) formed as the movement’s leadership body, Campos Lemus was elected as a delegate from the Instituto. He was arrested during the October 2nd, 1968 massacre at Tlatelolco and held as a political prisoner at the infamous Lecumberri prison for almost three years, where he authored this collection of stories, fragments, letters, and political reflections.
A scarce example of Mexican prison writing, from a key political leader of the student movement, written during his time in Mexico’s most infamous prison.
