Declare War on Taxi Scabs

New York: Rank and File Committee, [1970]. Mimeograph broadside printed to recto only. 8½ x 11 in. Item #10403

Flyer distributed by the Rank and File Committee of the taxi drivers’ union in New York during the 1970 strike. The text lays out the strikers’ demands for better pay, benefits, safety measures, on par with the transit workers of the MTA. The handbill also repeatedly attacks the monied interests, fleet owners, and Mayor John Lindsay, who served 1966-1973 and whose reign was rife with labor disputes and union-busting; the 1966 transit strike had crippled the city and taxi drivers clearly hoped to do the same.

“Stop the scabs! Fight for parity with transit! Beat back Lindsay and the fleet bosses!”

Price: $125.00
