New York: np, 1974. Offset. 7 ½ x 7⅓ in. Very good. Item #10425
Flyer promoting a women’s benefit party in support of the National Gay Task Force, just a year after its founding.
The party was hosted by artists, writers, lawyers, and politicians Bella Abzug, Ti-GraceAtkinson, Rita Mae Brown, Brenda Feigen Fasteau, Florynce Kennedy, Myrna Lamb, Kate Millett, Barbara Seaman, and Kate Stimpson, and was promoted here as including “multiple images of women, women, women on film, and sculpture, merge with sound to create a complete women’s environment.”
The National Gay Task Force (now the National LGBTQ Task Force or just the Task Force) was formed in1973 to facilitate and fund grassroots queer organizing across the country; the organization has campaigned against LGBTQ discrimination in the Catholic Church and for broader demographic representation. Since 1988, they have hosted an annual conference promoting skill-sharing amongst smaller LGBTQ organizations and activists.
Remarkable document of early fundraising efforts in the lesbian community to support the TaskForce.
