Instructivos Para el Combate Insurreccional Nos. 1, 3, 4 [and] Asesinos! [Instructions for Insurrectionary Combat Nos. 1, 3, 4 [and] Murderers!]
[El Salvador]: [FMLN], [ca. 1988]. Three xerox folios, each sized 8 ½ x 6 ½ in.; and one poster, sized 12 ¾ x 8 ½ in. All very good. Item #10519
A collection of three otherwise unrecorded pamphlets—
instructions for insurrectionary combat (Nos. 1, 3, and 4, of an unknown series)—published by the FMLN during the civil war in El Salvador; with one poster published by the FMLN denouncing the massacres committed by the Armed Forces of El Salvador, trained and backed by the U.S. military.
The publications are instruction manuals on guerilla warfare produced by the FMLN in a popular style, with
easy-to-read graphics and direct, graphic language. The first manual indicates how to make and deploy molotov cocktails; no. 3 advises how to aim and fire a Browning pistol; and no. 4 is focused on how to load and fire an M-16 rifle. The folios demonstrate the FMLN’s strategy of incorporating the masses into the war and spreading basic knowledge of combat and arms handling.
