Taller Coreografico de la U.N.A.M.

Mexico City: [Imprenta Madero], [1970s]. Three color screenprint. 17 ¾ x 26 ½ in. Some ink splatter from printing, and minor bumping. Overall very good. Item #10520

Vibrant three-color screenprint for the Taller Coreografico at the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico, founded in 1970 by Gloria Contreras. The poster was printed by Imprenta Madero, the celebrated screenprinting workshop run by renowned designer and artist Vicente Rojo.

Contreras (1934-2015), was an influential dancer and choreographer, and a close mentee of George Balanchine, largely working in a neo-classical choreographic style and utilizing the music of Mexican composers in her work. The workshop continues today under the direction of Irina Marcano.

A bright poster for this important Mexican ballet workshop.
